Want to know more about all the major UK political parties and their stances on climate and nature related issues? Our political lead, Alfie Prothero, and our dedicated digital communications volunteer, Joakin Clary Niemi Junkola, have developed party profiles to help you navigate the complexities of each party.
Founded in 1900, the Labour party is the current party in power in the UK Government (since 5th July 2024). Andy Burnham leads the party and is the UK Prime Minister.
Founded in 1912, the Conservative Party is the current Opposition Party lead by Kemi Badenoch. The party was last in power in 2024.
Currently lead by Ed Davey. The Liberal Democrats (A.K.A Lib Dems) have not been in government since 8th May 2015 when they formed a coalition with the Conservative party.
Founded in 1973 and currently lead by Zack Polanski, the Green Party are a green and left wing political party.
The Scottish National Party (SNP) is a center-left political party lead by John Swinney.
A.K.A Reform, are currently led by Nigel Farage. They are a right wing populist party.
