Campaign and Advocacy Support

We help organisations turn community support into political change.

Every campaign is different, but the challenge is often the same: how do you turn community support into meaningful political action?

We work alongside charities, campaign groups, community organisations, funders and coalitions to develop effective political strategies, strengthen advocacy capacity and help campaigns influence the decisions that matter. Whether you need support with a specific campaign or ongoing strategic advice, our team can help.

We help organisations identify where political change is possible, understand decision-makers and build campaigns designed to influence.

Need an extra member of the team? We provide flexible, on-tap advocacy support to help you prepare for political meetings, respond to emerging opportunities, refine campaign asks, develop influencing plans and navigate changing political landscapes.

We strengthen your organisation's ability to influence decision-makers over the long term. Through coaching, mentoring and tailored support, we help teams build the confidence, skills and internal processes needed to embed advocacy into their work.

Once your campaign strategy is in place, we equip your supporters with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to engage politicians effectively. From writing to MPs to holding productive meetings, we help supporters become confident advocates for change.

Politics moves quickly. We provide tailored training for campaign teams on the UK political landscape, parliamentary processes, influencing strategies and how to respond to emerging political opportunities with confidence.

We produce accessible political briefings, policy analysis and stakeholder research to help organisations understand who holds influence, where decisions are made and how best to shape them.

We identify upcoming political moments where your campaign could have the greatest influence, from legislation and consultations to elections, inquiries and local decision-making processes, helping you act at the right time with the right message.

“Hope for the Future are one of the leading (if not the leading) UK organisations...

...working to equip people and communities across the UK to effectively communicate about the climate and nature crisis with politicians. Their breadth of expertise and accessible trainings, reflected by their whole staff team, has been a huge support to MP engagement efforts on the Warm this Winter campaign, such that I have often recommend them to colleagues and partners within the environment sector who are looking to maximise impact with politicians, particularly through local organising.”

Uplift
Case Study

“We were a pretty experienced group of campaigners but we still all learnt a great deal from the session.”

Laura and Fergus very clearly explained the most effective ways of communicating with decision makers. There is a lot of psychology and hard science behind what we were being taught but it was explained in a very clear and appropriate way. Thanks!

“Thanks so much for putting the event together. I thought it was really brilliant.”

I wanted to mention that I really liked how you made it so relevant to our specific campaign, with examples of things we could say that relate very specifically to our work. I liked that we had a chance to share what we might use as our ‘hook’ with the other attendees.

“Thank you for your support with the organisation of the Wirral Environmental Debate on 24th June.”

Your action has been fantastic from the very beginning. We hadn’t appreciated how much work it would be for you and how time consuming too. Everything was done so efficiently with your planning system, despite the rushed date. We were confident that you would reply and deal with any queries promptly, even when it was me not thinking things through, or acting before asking.

Climate Connect

The UK's digital infrastructure for climate and nature campaigns.

Whether you're running a national campaign, coordinating a coalition or supporting communities locally, Climate Connect helps you bring people, data and political action together in one place.

We build bespoke, branded versions of Climate Connect for organisations, enabling you to showcase events, campaigns and community activity through an interactive map, while contributing to a shared national picture of climate and nature action. Alternatively, organisations can join the platform directly with an organisational account to manage campaigns, connect supporters and access powerful engagement tools.

Supercharging the impact of Deliberative Democracy processes

Most climate assemblies generate thoughtful recommendations, but participants are rarely supported to build the political relationships needed to see those recommendations implemented.

We embed advocacy throughout the process so participants understand who can make change, develop politically actionable recommendations and continue influencing decision-makers long after the assembly concludes.

We’re seeking 5 assemblies or juries who need support in 2027. Get in touch at joe.gascoyne-thompson@hftf.org.uk

Supporting funders to strengthen the influence of their grantees

Many funders recognise that excellent organisations understand the problems they are trying to solve, but often lack the time, confidence or political infrastructure to influence the systems creating those problems.

We work alongside funders to provide advocacy support directly to grantee organisations, helping them turn delivery expertise into long-term policy and systems change.

Why Choose us?

In an increasingly complex and unpredictable political landscape, we help people and organisations navigate politics with confidence. Our approach combines practical advocacy skills, relationship-building and political insight to help communities engage effectively with decision-makers and drive meaningful change on climate and nature.

Audience-led

We recognise that everyone has a different experience of democracy and politics, and we work across all levels of engagement - from those who have never voted, to experienced campaigners and advocates.

All of our support and training is designed appropriately and specifically for the experience, understanding and accessibility needs of the target audience.

Bespoke

We are apolitical and not driven by our own policy goals. Our goals are to advance those of the partners and communities that we support. Everyone's experience and voice is different, and everyone needs their own way to tell their story.

All of our support packages are therefore tailored to the specific political and social context of the constituencies, policy areas and community groups you're working in.

Expert

Our unique approach to advocacy has been tested and refined over 10+ years, supporting everyone from grassroots community campaigns to international movements. We work both online and in-person across the UK, with experts based throughout the country. Our team brings together experience from community organising, politics, climate policy, youth work, international development, research and communications.
